“Made in Africa”

African designers are on the rise and I am here for every bit of it. Absolutely obsessed with @LisaFolawiyostudio and her bold prints and unique tailoring. Recently Beyonce has joined the movement and been rocking @Tongorostudio thanks to her bomb stylist Zerina Akers. @Orangeculture representing for the fashionable men and women. These are just a couple African based designers that I love and inspire me. Africa is the Motherland and has so many valuable resources. My hope for Africa is that corruption comes to an end and the people of the continent are no longer robbed of what rightfully belongs to them. I hope that they are able to flourish and enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Growing up in America, the only representation of Africa and Africans given to us was poor, uncivilized, and other untrue negative images. As I grow in consciousness, I can only become aware that this was propaganda to keep America and other governments innocent while they secretly rob this continent rich on so many resources. But fast forward to today, the progress and awareness is growing more and more. Afrobeats are popular now here in America and even artists from Africa are partnering with mainstream American music artists to make groundbreaking music for us all to enjoy. Celebrities endorsing these Made in Africa brands helps to bring back credibility to the Motherland that has been lied about, stolen from, and manipulated for so many years. Many African groups have migrated to America and set up their own businesses right here for us to enjoy a bit of a culture so rich. We do not deserve but thank you to the aunties and my boyfriend for indulging my taste buds in such a delicious food selection. I Stan. Africa til infinity.

Tracksuits back Trending

Leisure wear has been a symbol of luxury for some time. Not in the sense of high end or expensive, but a statement that “I don’t have to work and so I am wearing this extremely comfortable outfit and living my best life.” Okay maybe not best life but you definitely aren’t spending the day working for the man or taking orders from anyone. So one would say that’s a pretty amazing life.

Tracksuits have been around for decades, with the trend swaying from the hottest wardrobe addition to played the fck out. They always come back around and hit the fashion world heavy. This time track suits have re birthed in a very luxurious way. Fabrics have been carefully picked to give the trend a better quality. With fabrics like, silk, wool, and jersey woven with cotton, the tracksuit has gotten a high end update. Designers are even tailoring the tracksuit every so slightly for a more put together look.

Incredible how the old is reworked into the new. Tracksuits are still very versatile for travel, relaxed days, and even special occasions. They’re no longer a symbol of leisure but a full on badd ass moment. Celebs are even wearing the trend from NBA players, to runway models and African iconic artists who tell us if they can do it so can we. So let’s own this look and feel powerful and great and work hard all the same. I’m more than happy to drop a few gems on where to get the perfect tracksuit for you.
