Maintaining your Best Self

A place where the hustlers come to hustle and the dreamers get left behind. NYC is a place like no other. It just sucks you in. Whether its the gritty cobblestone streets of Soho filled with all the good vibes and killer fashion or the snooty conservatively dressed in household name designer residents of Upper East Side, there’s a place for any one. A beautiful energy of the unknown is what thrives in this city.   The ironic beauty of the city is that it is indeed a grotesque place, but there is no place like New York City. It is that uniqueness that draws people in. So take a lesson from this great place and work to become a better version of your amazing, unique, smart self!

Here are a few tips to help maintain your best self :

Positive Affirmations – Say it loud and proud! Positive affirmations are magical. It is a ritual where you repeat uplifting and inspiring phrases over and over again to yourself. I usually complete mine first thing in the morning after I say a prayer, but really it is a powerful tool ready for use whenever needed. Sometimes you have to be your biggest cheerleader especially in a city like New York. My current positive affirmation is “I love money and money loves me!” I like to change it every week or so to keep a fresh perspective on where I am in my life as well as to continue the journey of growth. Start now! You will be happy that you did.

Control what you consume – This tip applies to all aspects of your life. Whether eating a healthy balanced diet, cutting back on binge watching the latest reality television  episode, or even refraining from engaging in draining and negative conversations. If you come across the last scenario, it can be tricky only if you let it. Energy is a very powerful thing. It can change your entire outlook on your day, and we all know how valuable a good 24hrs can be. A key fact when rejecting bad vibes is maintaining your good energy and saying what you need to say when it happens. And then, that’s it! No need to harvest anything less than your best energy.  My newest efforts at keeping a clear and concise planner has also been a huge self help for me. Staying on top of all the different areas of your life deserve conscious awareness. It can get a bit cliche’ but it is true what you put in is what you will get out. Keep a journal planner – Again I can’t say this enough. Keeping a journal planner or notebook is the best way to have control of your life and not be overwhelmed. Of course things will happen unexpectedly, but for the most part with a planner you will be ahead of the game. Write little reminders, deadlines for projects, or even when a friend is visiting from out of town. No surprises here! Proactively using a planner will allow you to prepare, plan, and execute the steps to your best life. See mine below :
